Join an RCHS Choir!
There is a place for EVERYONE!

What if I can't sing?
-
That's exactly why you should join choir! Singing is a skill like playing a sport or riding a bike, join choir to learn how and practice will make you better!
Which Choir is right for me?
-
Cougar Chorus: NO AUDITION! No experience needed, just sign up with your counselor. This is our beginning choir where we focus on the basics of singing and music reading.
-
Concert Choir (Coming Soon): Simple Audition or approval from the instructor after one year of Cougar Chorus. This is an intermediate/beginning ensemble that continues to build on music basics. Attends festivals
-
Bella Voce, a.k.a. Treble Choir (Coming Soon): Audition required. Intermediate/advanced ensemble for Treble voices only. Attends festivals.
-
Chamber Singers: Audition required. Advanced ensemble. Performs at more than just the four annual concerts. Attends festivals.
How do I audition?
-
There will be posted dates and times that you can come to the Choir Room to audition (check back here) but you can also reach out to Dr. Wilson: joel.wilson@cjuhsd.net
Can I be in choir and sports? What about Choir for all four years?
-
Yes!! Most of the work of the choir happens during the school day, so no conflicts there. With after school concerts, we can work with coaches and work out something that is fair for practice conflicts and you can be excused for games.
-
All 4 years is absolutely possible, it may require some creative thinking and possibly summer school, depending on your long term goals, but it is possible.
Do I need to know how to sight read music?
-
NO! Of course, it would certainly help your chances to get into the advanced classes but it is not a requirement.
What is the audition like?
-
The Simple audition is just that, simple! Sing a song of your choosing or "Happy Birthday," you could even do a video submission if that is easier for you.
-
The advanced auditions involve some pitch matching and checking musicality.
-
You DO NOT need to have anything prepared.
